Presque Isle, Maine – Dr. Thomas Summerson, Jr., 75, died December 20, 2006 at a Bangor hospital. He was born January 28, 1931 in Fort Fairfield the son of Thomas and Nettie (Belmain) Summerson.
Tom graduated from Arcadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in 1953 and Tufts University with a DMD degree in 1957, married his wife Sarah Buckley Summerson, entered the US Army and served in Germany until 1959. They then moved to Presque Isle where he began his Dentistry practice on Main St. He eventually moved his office to Academy St. where he practiced until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Presque Isle, Trinity Lodge # 130 A.F. & A.M. and the Presque Isle Country Club. His dental associations included, The American Dental Association, The Maine Dental Association, The Aroostook Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry and The Pierre Fouchard Academy.
Surviving him is his wife, Sarah of Presque Isle; two sons, David M. Summerson and his wife Sandi and their children, Meghan and Mitchel of Scarborough and John T. Summerson and his wife XiaoXiang and their son Miles of Reading, MA; a daughter, Susan R. Summerson and her children Jeremy and Sarah Fitzpatrick of Guilford; sisters, Alice McFee of Florida, Irene Spiess of CT, Barbara Wray of Florida and Betty McKenney of Fort Fairfield. Predeceasing him was a sister, Verna Whitney-Smith.
Relatives and friends may call at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle from 6 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 27th. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 52 Second St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating.
