Big Rock ski passes
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has discounted lift tickets for Big Rock Ski Area in Mars Hill. Junior (ages 6 to 17) lift tickets will be sold for $14 while adult lift tickets will be sold for $19.
Kids Ski Club
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is now taking registration for the Kids Ski Club. This is a learn-to-cross-country-ski program for children in grades 1-8. This program is designed to teach kids the fun of cross country skiing through games, play and the use of a terrain park. Parents are encouraged to participate.
The program runs from Jan. 20-March 17 Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m.-noon. The cost for the program is $15. If equipment is needed, it can be rented from Mojo Sports for $40. For equipment rentals or information, call 760-9500.
Youth Open Gym
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has started its open gym hours on Sundays and Saturdays throughout the winter from 1-5 p.m. Grades 1-5 are welcome from 1-3, and junior high and high school students are welcome from 3-5. Available activities include gym games, board games, ping pong, foosball, and pool. There is no cost.
Middle school open gym
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will offer a middle school only open gym time on Friday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m. Students in grades 6-8 are invited to come and participate in open gym and other activities. Possible group activities, such as tubing and bowling, may be scheduled for future dates. This is open to SAD 1 students only.
Adult evening activities
Evening activities for adults have begun. Activities run from 7-9 p.m. Co-ed Volleyball will be Mondays, men’s basketball will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, and co-ed dodgeball will be Sundays and Wednesdays. There is a $1 fee per activity, and proper footwear is required.
Presque Isle Indoor Pool
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool will begin new lessons the week of Jan. 8.
Parent/toddler and infant classes will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Lessons for 3 year olds will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at 9 a.m., Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Lessons for 4 and 5 year olds are Monday at 7 p.m., Tuesday at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m., Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., Friday at 9 a.m. or Saturday at 10 a.m.
Swimming 3 to 5 year old class for those able to swim ten yards without flippers or bubbles are Monday at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at 9 or 10:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m., Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Learn to swim I classes for those 6 years old or older are Tuesday at 6 p.m., Wednesday at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.
Learn to swim II and III classes for those able to swim 15 yards are Wednesday at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. or 6 p.m., Thursday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
Level IV-VI classes are Monday at 6 p.m., Tuesday at 4 p.m., Wednesday at 1 p.m., Thursday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.
Adult lessons are Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Water exercise classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. or Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m.
Water jogging class is Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.
Water walking class is Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
