She was born in Lincoln, Feb. 16, 1938, the daughter of Bertrand and Kathleen (Mason) Lane, Sr.
Donna was a 1954 graduate of Bangor High School. She married her best friend, Gerald Montpetit on Nov. 23, 1956 in Brewer. She was employed in various fields over the years, including as a secretary with a paleontologist laboratory while Gerald was stationed in Tripoli, Libya. During this career the company discovered a new rock species, which they affectionately named after her. Donna’s last employment before her retirement was with the State of Maine Potato Seed Board in Masardis, where she made several special lifetime friends. During her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her only grandson, Sean Michael. Sean was the light of Gammie’s life and the twinkle in her eyes. Days were spent doing special things together such as coloring, baking, and teasing Gampie. Donna was a special person who always did for and gave to others and placed herself last. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald F. Montpetit of Masardis; two sons: Mitchell Montpetit and his wife Susan of Masardis; Michael Montpetit and his wife Bethann and her grandson, Sean Michael, all Masardis; two sisters, Mary Graham and Jane McEwen, both of Lincoln; a special sister-in-law, Ellen Lane of Veazie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Buddy Lane of Veazie and Wayne Lane of Lincoln.
