PLASTER ROCK, N.B. – The Atoms hockey team remained undefeated in league play as they took a 5-3 win over Tobique Valley over the weekend.
Tyler Seeley led the team with four goals and one assist and Mikey Michaud added one goal and one assist. Alex Michaud recorded two assists and Ryder Soucy added an assist.
Jillian Flynn was tough in goal, coming up with some big saves.
Just before the new year, the team traveled to Winslow for a round-robin tournament in which they scored 17 goals in four wins to take the championship.
Fairfield proved tough in game one but two goals each from Joseph Patenaude and Seeley gave the team the 4-3 win. Assists came from Seeley with two and Trevor Levesque and Patrick Burnett with one each.
Game two against MCSA proved another tough win but Presque Isle spread the wealth on scoring to pick up the 3-2 win.
Scoring for Presque Isle was Soucy, Seeley and Colin McKay while assists came from Alex Michaud and Soucy.
The team put up another 3-2 win in the third game against Kennebec. Seeley netted all three goals for Presque Isle with assists from Alex Michau and Aaron Kofstad.
Kennebec and Presque Isle met again in the championship round and the Wildcats came out smoking as they picked up a 7-3 win.
Goals came from Seeley with three and Patenaude, McKay, Flynn and Alex Michaud with one each. Assists were provided by Mikey Michaud with three and Soucy and Austin Albert with one each.
Goal tending duties went to Flynn in games one and three and Kofstad in games two and four.
The weekend also featured an individual skills competition in categories including slalom, fastest skater, accuracy, hardest shot and goalie shoot-out.
Alex Michaud placed second in slalom; Mikey Michaud placed second in shot accuracy and hardest shot; and Colin McKay took third in shot accuracy.
