Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill.
The special speaker was Brigadier General Brent M. Boyles.
General Boyles is currently the Assistant Adjutant General and commands the Maine Army National Guard. He spoke about the Maine Guard’s changing from a field artillery unit to an engineering group. He feels that this change best supports the needs of both the state and federal missions. The engineering group will be a help to local Maine communities, especially during peace time.
This summer, Maine units will go to the southwest border for six weeks to build roads and do whatever else they are assigned. The Maine guard units are made up of both full- and part-time soldiers.
Boyles stressed the importance of family, community and employer support. It is instrumental in the success of the National Guard.
