North Star Boy Scout Skills Show scheduled

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Aroostook Centre Mall will once again be hosting the North Star District’s Annual Boy Scout Skills Show on Saturday, Feb. 3.
The Show will begin at 11 a.m. and feature presentations, games, displays and ‘Scouting Skills’ from Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from every part of Aroostook County.
The show is a great opportunity to find out about Scouting and will provide family fun for all ages.
The Boy Scout (ages 11-18) portion will feature performances of traditional Native American dances by Troop 189 of Fort Kent. In addition to these shows, the Troop will display hand-made regalia and provide an opportunity for children of all ages to try the dances.
Also on the Boy Scout docket will be a pioneering competition, featuring construction of useful items using spars, knots and lashings.
The Cub Scouts (ages 6-10) will be highlighted by the Annual Pinewood Derby finals. The top racers from each town will get the chance to see who’s best. The top four competitors will compete for Katahdin Area Council’s Top Honors in Bangor in March 10.
Children who attend the show can see what it’s like to race a Pinewood Derby in one of our guest races, run by Pack 170 of Mapleton.
Parents who would like to enroll their son in Scouting may do so at the show. Those who would like more information can get it at that time as well.
