PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Hampden boys’ and girls’ swim teams picked up a pair of wins over Presque Isle and Caribou in a dual meet held at the Forum Thursday.
In the boys’ meet, Hampden took a 67-7 win over Caribou and a 67-16 win over Presque Isle, while the Wildcats earned a 39-10 win over the Vikings.
Individually Presque Isle’s Joey Johnson took third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:47.68 and in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:25.44; Cameron Winter took third in the 200-yard individual medley at 3:43.19 and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 9:08.78; Mike Yu took second in the 50-yard freestyle at 29.70 and in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:05.57; and Jacob Brawn took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:43.29 and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at 35.66.
In relay events the team of Johnson, Yu, Brawn and Winter took second in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:15.11 and in the 400-yard freestyle at 5:36.02.
For Caribou, John Forbes took third in the 50-yard freestyle at 29.79 and first in the 500-yard freestyle at 7:31.14; and David Desilets took seventh in the 50-yard freestyle at 35.98 and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:36.09.
On the girls’ side, Hampden took a 59-35 win over Caribou and a 95-33 win over Presque Isle. The Lady Vikings got the 48-41 edge over the Lady Wildcats.
Individually, Caribou’s Paige Bradstreet took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at 3:04.91 and third in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:39.45; Renee Pelletier took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle at 3:31.85; Nicole Nadeau took second in the 200-yard individual medley at 3:03.97 and second in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:11.30; Sam Cross took second in the 50-yard freestyle at 31.32 and first in the 500-yard freestyle at 7:32.84; Rachel Jordan took sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at 45.13; Robin Knoll took second in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:32.89 and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:31.33; Briana Caron took sixth in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:35.92 and third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:30.77; and Annie Burgess took fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:56.90.
In relay events the team of Caron, Nadeau, Knoll and Cross took second in the 200-yard medley at 2:36.43; Jordan, Burgess, Bradstreet and Pelletier took fifth in the 200-yard medley at 2:09.70; Pelletier, Caron, Laura Tardif and Jordan took third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:52.79; Burgess Amanda Guerrette, Janelle Gagnon and Laura Ouellette took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at 3:33.41; and Cross, Knoll, Bradstreet and Nadeau took second in the 400-yard freestyle at 5:10.06.
For Presque Isle, individually, Karrie Brawn took third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:46.17 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:34; Desiree Higgins took fifth in the 200-yard freestyle at 3:05.56 and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle at 36.68; Emilee Currie took third in the 200-yard individual medley at 3:22.61; Amanda Bruton took first in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.49 and in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:06.47; Allison Young took third in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:12.66 and second in the 100-yard backstroke; and Paige McEachern took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:40.91.
In relay events the team of Young, Brawn, Currie and Bruton took first in the 200-yard medley at 2:34.24; and Brawn, Higgins, McEachern and Young took third in the 400-yard freestyle at 5:22.67.
