Atoms continue winning ways, Novice

    PERTH ANDOVER, N.B. – The Atoms hockey team picked up three wins over the last two weeks including a short-handed victory over the weekend.
     Presque Isle put only eight skaters on the ice Saturday night plus their goalie and played hard and as a team to pick up the 8-3 win.
A solid defense assisted goalie Aaron Kofstad in keeping 31 of 34 shots out of the net and the forwards out-passed, out-shot, out-scored and out-skated their opponents.
Goals came from Ryder Soucy with four and Tyler Seeley and Mikey Michaud with two each. Assists came from Trevor Levesque, Michaud, Abraham Azab, Jillian Flynn, Austin Albert and Jeremy Gingrich.
The previous weekend, the team traveled to Houlton for an exhibition match as part of the Moose Stompers festival. Though it was supposed to be Houlton’s weekend, Presque Isle took home the 4-1 win.
Mikey Michaud led scoring with three goals and Joseph Patenaude added one. Assists came from Soucy, Seeley and Albert with one each.
Kofstad stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced in goal for Presque Isle.
The Atoms hosted Tobique Valley the next morning and doubled up their opponents for the 6-3 victory.
Presque Isle found themselves on the losing end of a 3-2 score going into the locker room after the second period but the team put up an incredible four-goal, third-period effort to secure the win.
Goals came from Soucy and Seeley with two each and Alex Michaud and Colin McKay each added one. Tallying assists were Soucy and Seeley with two each and Alex Michaud, Mikey Michaud, Levesque, Azab, and Albert with one each.
Jillian Flynn was solid in net with some incredible saves against a tough team.

Novice Hockey
    HOULTON, Maine – The Cary Medical Center/MFX novice hockey team got the chance to participate in the Moose Stompers Festival last weekend as a guest of the Houlton team and though it was Houlton’s weekend to shine, the Wildcats didn’t go down without a fight.
Cooper Madore scored all four goals for Presque Isle in the 7-4 loss with assists coming from Sarah Beaulieu, Eric Benson, Isaac Madore, Joseph Patenaude and Tyler Levesque.
Leading the defense was Gregory Jellison, Drenn Belmain, Devin Ireland and Denny Young. Heinz Schumacher faced 29 shots on goal and the Wildcats put up 17 shots of their own.
The previous weekend, the novice team traveled to Woodstock, N.B. for a game against Woodstock 3. The Wildcats pulled out the 6-4 win led by Jellison, who recorded his first goal of the season. Reece McDougall added three goals and Madore put up two.
Tallying assists were Beaulieu, Belmain, Benson, Ireland, Levesque, Madore, Thomas Patenaude and Young.
Schumacher faced 17 shots in goal for the Wildcats.
