WASHBURN – Katahdin Trust Company donated over 20 computer monitors valued at approximately $2,000 to the Washburn District High School.
In addition to using these monitors for replacement parts to fix current equipment, the school will be able to use the monitors in participation with the proposed ‘Free and Reduced’ technology program.
This new program will allow students who qualify for the Free and Reduced School Lunch Program to receive Internet access at home with no cost to the student or family.
The school will provide a computer at no cost to each qualified student who does not have one, so that they will be able to access the Internet.
In presenting the monitors to the school Peggy Bugbee, manager of Katahdin Trust Company in Washburn, said, “We are very pleased to make this donation to the school and to help students in need with the opportunity to expand their learning and knowledge through use of their own computers at home and the free Internet access program.”
