Young, Eugene L., 88, died February 23, 2007 at the Cary Medical Center, Caribou. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

  WASHBURN – Eugene L. Young,  88, a faithful husband, father, and grandfather died Friday morning, February 23, 2007 at the Cary Medical Center in Caribou. He was born at Caribou on May 13, 1918, the son of John B. and Anastasia (Derosier) Young.
    Eugene graduated from Mapleton High School. He married Gladys “Peggy” Kinney on June 4, 1938. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and as a foreman for the A.E. Flewelling Co. in Crouseville. He was a member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church, served on the board for a number of years, and worked many hours building the youth center at the church. His favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. He enjoyed gardening and always shared his bounty with friends and neighbors.
    He is survived by his wife of Washburn, three sons, John Eugene Young and his wife Dianna of Caribou, Dennis Gordon Young of Egypt, Robert Wayne Young and his wife Barbara of Peabody, MA, seven brothers and two sisters, two grandchildren, Tanya Belanger and her husband Clair of Presque Isle, Stephen John Young and his wife Kristen of Fort Fairfield, a great-granddaughter Abigail Joan Young of Fort Fairfield, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Joan Carol Young.
    Relatives and friends called 6-8 PM Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, and 1-2PM Tuesday at the Washburn Pentecostal Church. Funeral services were held 2PM Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Spring interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery, Crouseville.
