Enjoy singing? Want to help a worthy cause? Then why not share your talent by taking part in the third annual USA Karaoke semi-finals.
“Country Concert USA Karaoke Finals and North Star Search and Rescue Association, Inc. have teamed up to present the event, with four different locations and times selected for the contest,” said Randy Michaud, one of the event organizers.
North Star Search and Rescue is accepting entries into the Country Concert USA Karaoke Semi-Finals through March 31.
“Entries must be received by Saturday and participants must be 16 years of age or older,” said Michaud. “Come sing and have a wonderful time. Your participation will help raise much-needed funds for the rescue team.”
Each entry fee applies to only one location at a time, according to Michaud. But applicants can apply to the next competition, if they do not advance.
“You can compete at any location. If you do not advance the first time, you can submit another application to try again at a different venue but a separate submission fee will be required for each application. You must have competed at one of the other shows before re-submitting another application,” said Michaud.
This year’s contest provides four chances to advance. Three winners from each show will automatically advance to the finals on June 24 in Presque Isle.
When applying, mark your entry form as to which location you would like to compete at. Sites and times include: Houlton, March 31, 7 to 9 p.m.; VFW Post 2599 Presque Isle, April 29, 1 to 5 p.m.; Houlton, May 26, 7 to 9 p.m.; and VFW Post 2599 Presque Isle, June 24, 1 to 7 p.m.
Entry fee is $10. Entry fees and applications can be mailed or delivered in person to: North Star Search and Rescue Office, 1086 Mapleton Road, Mapleton, ME 04757. For more information, contact 764-3866 or visit the NSSAR Web site at http://rmichaud36.tripod.com.
