Atoms end regular season undefeated

The Atoms’ season ended in an overtime fight for the win in Hartland, N.B., in a tournament held on March 23 and 24. After a successful season, the Atoms finished with a record of 42-0-4 and an undefeated 15-0-0 record for their regular season.

“The Atoms team did a good job this season,” said Coach Dennis Albert. “They worked to improve on skating, passing and playing as a team. We got a lot of good comments during games from other coaches, parents and refs about how well they played together. They represented PI youth hockey well on and off the ice.”
“Our goalies did really well this year, with Aaron Kofstad playing 25 games, with six shutouts and Jillian Flynn had three shutouts. The team played in five tournaments, won three, and was runner-up in two,” Albert concluded.
In game one against Houlton, the team soared to a 9-4 win with goals by Ryder Soucy, Alex Michaud, Joseph Patenaude and Mikey Michaud. Tyler Seeley shot five goals by the Houlton goalie during the course of the game. Aaron Kofstad was in the net with 21 shots on.
The Atoms faced Southern Victoria 1 in game two and it was a 7-0 shutout for the young team. Goals were made by Tyler Seeley and Colin McKay, with three each; and Alex Michaud contributed one.
The win was a team effort with assists by Abraham Azab, with three; Joseph Patenaude, Alex Michaud and Colin McKay with two; and Ryder Soucy, Trevor Levesque and Mikey Michaud with one each. Kofstad was in the net, stopping all 13 shots the opposing team made.
For game three, the Atoms found themselves playing Carlton 1, and they were victorious yet again with an 11-2 win.
Goals were made by Joseph Patenaude, with four; Tyler Seeley, with two, making it his 100th season goal; Austin Albert, Trevor Levesque, Ryder Soucy, Colin McKay and Alex Michaud each contributed one goal.
In the Atoms’ final game, they fought a hard battle against the Carlton 2 team, with a 4-5 loss in overtime. Carlton’s wining goal was scored with only 8.1 seconds left on the clock.
