Club collects items for garage sale

Garage/food sale
The Bridgewater Community Club plans to hold a garage and food sale on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bridgewater Civic Building.

Anyone wishing to donate items can do so on Saturday, April 28 or May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Civic Building. Unfortunately, donations of clothing cannot be accepted.

    Donation of food items (beans, potato salad, cole slaw, bread and baked goods) will be accepted the day of the sale.
The club will use the proceeds of the sale to purchase flowers to plant in several highly-visible locations in town.

Senior citizens’ meals
The Central Aroostook High School cafeteria will be a meal site for area senior citizens on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 27. Senior citizens will be served at 12 noon each Tuesday that school is in session. The cost of the meal will be $3.25, payable at the meal site.
Please call Sylvia at 429-8464 by the Monday before each Tuesday to sign up.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill.
Rotarian Steve Milliard gave his classification. Following many years working at and then owning Al’s Diner, which has been in his family since 1937, Steve sold the business. He went to work at McCain’s, first in the kitchen, then at the Waste Treatment Plant.
After five years with McCain’s, Steve returned to Mars Hill to work. He is currently the superintendent of the Mars Hill and Blaine Water Company.
Steve, his wife Tracey and their two children, Courtney and Logan, live in Blaine.

Healthy Active Aging
There will be a Healthy Active Aging session, Go Lean on Protein, held at the Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library on Thursday, April 26, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
These fun and informative sessions are led by Chris Finemore of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and are designed to help explore the benefits of a good diet and physical activity.
They will be held the last Thursday of each month during 2007. For more information, please contact Chris at 425-6606.

Bridgewater Community Club
The Bridgewater Community Club will meet on Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at the home of Pat Lenentine, 386 Main Street, Bridgewater.
The Community Club has been organized to promote friendship among women of all ages and to undertake projects that improve the community. Membership dues are $1 per month. All interested women are invited to attend.
