PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Presque Isle Middle School Jazz Band competed in the State Jazz Festival at Westbrook High School March 24 and placed third in Division 1.
Two students, Kyle Goupille and Lucas Cyr, received Outstanding Musician Awards.
“Two of only five awards given out by the judges were presented to PIMS students,” said Pat Bragdon, band/vocal music instructor at PIMS. “I’m very proud of them.”
Bragdon said he will miss this year’s eighth-graders.
“The eighth-grade members did a great job this year,” he said, “and I’ll miss them, but over 20 of the 28 students will be returning next year. The band should place again next year, as well as a few students receiving awards.
“I’m looking forward to October and working with the students on all new music,” said Bragdon.
