Items needed for benefit auction

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — On March 1, Mike Chasse, Presque Isle native and ski patroller at Park City, was involved in a serious skiing accident at Deer Valley. Chasse, a graduate of Presque Isle High School in 2000, has been involved with skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting and the environment.
Chasse was an all-star athlete at PIHS, participating in the soccer, skiing and track and field teams. He was an All-Aroostook soccer player and received the DeMerchant Award at the end of his season. Chasse graduated second in his high school class. He went on to the University of Maine at Orono and majored in electrical engineering. Chasse graduated in 2004, and accepted a job working for Dopplimier.
Unfortunately, the injuries he sustained the day of the accident were serious. Chasse broke his neck and is at Craig Hospital in Colorado, a specialty facility for spinal injuries. The Chasse family is trying to raise enough money to cover the medical bills, adaptive equipment and other expenses, as they arise.
“He is a brilliant individual who will add much to our lives as he has in the past,” said Tom Chasse, Mike’s father. “He was always the first to help others and now he needs our help.”
As part of the fund-raising effort, a raffle has been planned for June 2, at the Presque Isle Knights of Columbus Hall. Maine Mutual is sponsoring the upcoming event. The family is calling out for items to be donated for the auction. Anyone interested in providing items can drop them off at Rocky Mountain Sports, located in the Aroostook Centre Mall near K-Mart, or Maine Mutual. Tom Chasse requested that all goods be dropped off by May 25.
