    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The more than 250 family-owned stores in the Goin’ Postal packing and shipping chain will be banding together as part of the chain’s patriotic beautification plan to offer free replacement American flags to anyone who brings in a tattered, torn or faded American flag during the month of July.
    Each Goin’ Postal store owner will have a minimum of 75 American flags on hand to give out as free replacements, with a limit of one per family per physical address – no post office boxes – while supplies last.
Some restrictions and conditions apply. Tattered, torn, or faded American flags must be in a noticeable state of disrepair and must be at least 2-feet by 3-feet in size or larger. Goin’ Postal’s American Flag Replacement Project does not apply to plastic or novelty flags, flags that are intended for use on motorized or other vehicles, handheld flags, flags printed on wood, T-shirts, sheets, denim jackets or other such materials and substrates, and does not apply to anything other than a proper American flag that is in a state of noticeable disrepair.
This particular patriotic project is part and parcel of the chain’s year round support for our military men and women and their families.
Goin’ Postal store owners decorate red, white and blue Christmas trees in their stores during the month of December to show their appreciation and compassion for those separated by duty during the holidays, collect books, magazines and music CDs to be shipped free of charge to the troops to help them pass their “off duty” time, provide free postage to those sending Valentine’s Day cards to military personnel, often give discounts to military personnel and their families, assist Operation Shoebox groups in their endeavors, amass donated pillows to ship to the troops, assist various “America Supports You” groups and USO’s in their endeavors, participate in USMC Toys for Tots Toy Drives, and organize and host Patriot Day (Sept. 11)  Sing-A-Longs in their towns and cities across America.
