Spending time with a benefactor

I am still seeing dogs being left in cars in the heat. Even with the windows down a crack, your dog could suffer heat stroke, dehydration or death. Is it worth the risk? When the temperature rises, leave your pet at home. It is that simple.
I had the pleasure to spend some time with Mr. Richard Scovil last week. It was interesting. We chatted about his love for animals and how animals know when you like them and if you are approachable. He came to my home and got to meet some of the critters here. It was obvious from their reaction that they know an animal lover when they see one. Mr. Scovil donated a substantial amount of money to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, enough for us to start the “Richard Scovil Spay/Neuter Fund.” We have altered many animals, well over 100 this year. This generous donation has made it possible for us to be proactive in our fight against pet over population.
Because of donations from the public, we are able to accomplish many great things. We do have some things on our wish list: Our building needs upkeep to maintain a safe place for the animals. Our center support wall is in need of repair and it would be wonderful to be able to epoxy our floors. We have leaky windows needing to be replaced and two outside doors that need to be replaced. Over the years, the dogs have destroyed many of the cage doors. They are in need of being replaced because honestly we can’t mend them any more.
