Youth visit elephants

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Children and parents from Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) central and northern Home Base Head Start programs joined with ACAP Caribou Head Start program to attend an educational program about elephants.
Invitations to the Northern Maine Forum in Presque Isle were extended to the area pre-K programs to join in an up-close and personal view of elephants. The program included information about the differences between African and Asian elephants, as well as many facts about weight, teeth, skin and texture. Children were able to touch and pet the elephants and were even entertained with a few pachyderm tricks. The group was also treated to a special visit from several of the Anah Temple Shrine Klowns.
Celebrating 35 years of service, ACAP provides the people of Aroostook with services and programs in the areas of health, nutrition, child and family, energy and housing, and employment and training, and as a leader or in partnership with others, provides guidance to the community in responding to emerging human needs.
