MELVIN, Brenda A., 66, died Sunday July 8, 2007. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday July 13, 2007 at St. Marys Catholic Church.
PRESQUE ISLE – Brenda A. Melvin, 66, died Sunday night July 8, 2007 at a Presque Isle health care facility after a short illness. She was born in Mars Hill on May 14, 1941, the eldest daughter of Kenneth and Agnes (McElroy) Hawksley. She has lived in Presque Isle for a number of years and southern Virginia the past nine years in the winter. Brenda enjoyed her life as a housewife, her marriage of 27 years, and being a mother to the children, step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took care of the bookwork for her husband and their business of one truck. She enjoyed the company of friends and relatives who visited from Maine and New Brunswick, and will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her husband Lorne of Presque Isle, three daughters; Theresa Argraves and her husband Jeff, Wendy Hopkins and her husband Wade, Cindy Snead, three grandsons Brennan and Christian Hopkins and Jeffery Snead and his wife Allison, a granddaughter Tamaria Martin and her husband Trevor, three great granddaughters; Makenzie Snead, Kala and Tatiana Martin all of Danville, VA., a step daughter Cheryl Martin and her husband Mark, and their children Joshua and Sara, a step son Kenny Melvin and his companion Tina, and their children Lita, Morgan, and Torin, all of Presque Isle. A sister Carolyn Clemens and her husband Frank of Limestone. She was predeceased by two sisters Gloria Donnelly and Mary Gagnon, and a step son Keith Melvin in Dec. 2005. Relatives and friends may call 7-9PM Thursday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home 30 Church St. Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, July 13, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency Celebrant. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
