Richards qualifies for national

Kathy Mazzuchelli, northern  regional coordinator for the Hershey Youth Track and Field Program, recently announced that five Aroostook County youth have been selected to travel to the National Finals in Hershey, Pa. Aug. 2-5.
 “Maine will be sending six youths to the nationals,” Mazzuchelli said, “and five of them will be from Aroostook County.”
Traveling to the Hershey meet will be Kayla Richards of Presque Isle, who will compete in the softball throw.
Mitchell Thompson and Olivia Sleeper, both of Caribou; and Isaac Cone and Cameron J. Clark, both of Houlton, also qualified.
The group will take part in four days of activities, including the chance to meet Olympic track greats Rafer Johnson, Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson and Bruce Jenner.
