Summer literacy fun at ACAP Child & Family Center at UMPI PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) Child and Family Center at UMPI recently received a visit from ACAP Literacy Intern Kate Powers. As part of a literacy initiative, Kate read stories and played games with the children. Each child received a book of their own to take home. The books, provided through a Cheerios’ First Book Program called Spoonful of Smiles, provides books to hundreds of children.
ACAP students at UMPI get Big Red visit
Children at ACAP Child and Family Center at UMPI recently received a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog courtesy of the Emily Turner Library. In preparation for the visit, children enjoyed reading many of the ‘Clifford’ books.
Celebrating 35 years of service, ACAP provides the people of Aroostook with services and programs in the areas of health, nutrition, child and family, energy and housing, and employment and training, and as a leader or in partnership with others, provides guidance to the community in responding to emerging human needs.
