Organizations
The Easton Pentecostal Church held their annual pig roast on Labor Day, September 3, with the biggest turnout ever of citizens and friends of the church. The day was beautiful, a little windy and the pork and beef, baked corn and potatoes, as well as salads and sweets, were soon made away with. For the first time they ran out of corn, all 150 ears. I think the whole town of Easton appreciates this Labor Day event.
Celebrations
Ashley and Paige Nichols hosted a small get-together, at their home for their parents, Kevin and Nancy Nichols, to help celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Those attending were Nancy’s parents, Dan and Joan Turner; her brother, Bill Turner; Kevin’s mother, Glenice Craig; his aunt, Avis Hume; Kyle Cunningham; and Lucien Simard. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed. The girls served cake and ice cream. One of the gifts for the couple was a beautiful lace tablecloth and three paintings done by Nancy’s grandmother, Margarite Foster. These articles were given to Nancy’s parents on their 25th wedding anniversary and now passed on.
Marie Hewitt accompanied her son, Maurice Hewitt, and Patty Philbrick to Eagle Lake to attend the wedding of another son, Mark Hewitt, to Joy Taylor of Mars Hill. The wedding was held on a beautiful day on the shore of the lake. A reception is planned for later.
Hospitalized
Pat Clark has returned home after spending several days in The Aroostook Medical Center.
Dana Knox was taken to the hospital by ambulance several days ago when his lawn mower rolled over on him, breaking his leg above the knee. Lorraine Wilcox discovered the accident and helped him get out from under the machine. Dana is now in the rehabilitation unit at the Presque Isle health care facility. His wife, Ethel, is also still in that unit.
Visits
Clair and Eldora Carter recently returned from a few days’ visit to their family in the Portland area. They stayed with their son, Dana Carter, his wife, Kimberley, and children, Jeremy, Emily, and Molly, in Scarborough. On Saturday evening Dana held a cookout at his home for them and his brothers, Michael and Beth, of Portland, and Wendell, Doreen and son, Kyle, of Saco. On Sunday Dana drove them to Standish where they spent a couple of hours visiting with old friends, Corey and Cindy MacDonald. On their way to Scarborough they stopped for a night with Eldora’s brother, Darrell Porter and his wife, Norma.
Vance and Debbie Smith drove to Portland for the Labor Day weekend to babysit for their little granddaughter, Olivia. While they were there their son, Chris, and his wife, Tess, went to Boston to take in a Red Sox game. This happened to be the one that Clay Buchholz pitched a no-hitter.
