Presque Isle JV girls off to undefeated start
The Presque Isle junior varsity girls soccer team is off to an undefeated start to its regular season with wins against Madawaska, Houlton, Caribou, Fort Kent and John Bapst. The team has posted five wins against no losses in the early going and have outscored its opponents by a margin of 25-1.
Last Wednesday, the Wildcats travelled to Madawaska and claimed an 8-1 victory over the Owls. Scoring goals in the win were Jenna Stephenson, Shae Adler, Deidre Dicker, Lindsay Michaud, Jordyn Kinney and Casey Carson. Goalkeeper Rilee Currie collected one save among the four shots she faced in the victory.
The Wildcats’ previous game had a closer scoreline, but similar results. While hosting John Bapst Sept. 1, the girls raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first 26 minutes and never looked back. With only 10 minutes gone in the contest, Stephenson took a one-time shot off a pass from Mackenzie Pinette to beat the keeper and open the scoring. The only other goal of the game came from a corner kick taken by Chelsea Lynds which midfielder Shae Adler promptly delivered to the back of the net with a quick volley from the top of the penalty area. Currie posted her fourth shutout of the season during the contest, again saving one of four shots.
