Mild temperatures made a perfect day for a round of golf. The Panthers achieved the top spot in the Aroostook Qualifier, which puts their team through to the championships on Oct. 6., where Cousins and his teammates will compete for the class C title.

“I wasn’t sure what kind of team I would have this season. I only had four return players from last year’s team. My two seniors have been great leaders and consistent all year long. They are both hungry to get back to the state championships.”
The top rank on the team goes to an upstart freshman Kane Kingsbury with an average score of 45. Guerrette boasts his golf knowledge and ball-striking skills. Seniors Lee Gagnon and Greg Cousins also lead the Panthers with 45 and 48 averages. Sophomore Will Delong comes up fourth with an average of 50 and a good deal of patience. Guerrette’s number five, freshman Logan McLaughlin, has determination which has given him a 52 average. Junior T.J. Turley comes in the sixth place with a 54 average.
Other players include junior Shawn McIntyre, sophomores Abram Brewer and Tim Lawrence and freshman Zach Wilcox.
“Will Delong played soccer last season. He has added stability to the middle of my lineup. Freshmen Kingsbury and McLaughlin have been a pleasant surprise. They both have played beyond my expectations, and Turley and McIntyre have greatly improved,” commented Guerrette.
The Panthers will compete in the team championships on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Natanis in Vassalboro. Lee Gagnon and Kane Kingsbury will participate in the individual championships, also at Natanis, on Saturday, Oct. 13.
