Central Aroostook Kennel Club hosts Breed and Obedience Match

PRESQUE ISLE – The Central Aroostook Kennel Club (CAKC) hosted a Breed and Obedience Match in August at Riverside Park.

The match was an opportunity for breeders, handlers, and members of the public to enjoy the challenge and experience of competing with their dog in a low-stress, relaxed setting.
According to CAKC President, Kathy Hoppe of Portage Lake, the local event gave Aroostook County residents an up-close look at a dog show.
“With the nearest dog match being held in southern Maine, we wanted to introduce people in this area to breed and obedience trials. Folks were very willing to come out and take part … to try new things,” she said.
Approximately 30 dogs and handlers came to the Presque Isle Fun Match to compete in Breed, Obedience, Rally-O, and/or an informal Agility Trial.
