The Upper St. John Valley Senior Golf Association held its final tournament of the summer at the Edmundston Country Club with 114 players, and also presented its end-of-year awards. Cliff Chasse of Edmundston shot a 74 for overall gross at his home course last Wednesday, while Duncan MacKenzie of Limestone took low net with a 70.
Division I winners were: Chasse, Edmundston, 74; Dave Plourde, Edmundston, 76 and Dave MacFarlane, Edmundston, 76. Net, Robert McFarlane, Edmundston, 72; Gary Greene, Covered Bridge, 74 and Keith Larlee, Edmundston, 74.
Division II winners include: Judd Giberson, Covered Bridge, 77; Greg Douglas, VaJoWa, 83 and Harold Clark, Presque Isle, 84. Net, Roger Ouellette, Fort Kent, 72; Willard Cyr, Edmundston, 74 and Harold Soucy, Presque Isle, 74.
Division III winners were: MacKenzie, Limestone, 87; Bob Boucher, Fort Kent, 89 and Robert Lewandowski, Presque Isle, 94. Net, David Ricker, Aroostook Valley, 71; Dave Dow, Long Lake, 74 and Mike Fitzgerald, Caribou, 78.
Division IV gross winners include: John Murphy, Presque Isle, 80; Martin Shaw, Mars Hill, 84 and Albert Daniels, Houlton, 95. Net, Elbridge Judkins, Presque Isle, 74; David Griffiths, Presque Isle, 76 and Don Trafford, Covered Bridge, 77.
Division V gross winners were: Jean-Marc Nadeau, Fort Kent, 95; Ron Ouellette, Caribou, 97 and Gerard Plourde, Fort Kent, 99. Net, David Whitmore, Caribou, 75; Bev Guiggey, Mars Hill, 76 and Gerald Clark, Presque Isle, 76.
Division VI gross winners include: Jim Coster, Edmundston, 102; Steve Haywood, Covered Bridge, 104 and Paul Stoddard, Presque Isle, 107. Net, Martin Parente, Aroostook Valley, 71; Frank Dunn, Houlton, 71 and Keith Clark, Long Lake, 77.
Seasonal trophy awards were presented. Winning the President’s Cup was Cliff Chasse of Edmundston, turning in the best four gross scores for an average of 74.25, with Gary Greene of the Covered Bridge Country Club runner-up with an average score of 75.25.
The Governor’s Trophy winner was Dave Scullion of Portage Hills Country Club, who recorded the best four net scores for an average of 67.5, followed by Greg Douglas of VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls with an average score of 68.5. Taking home the Bud Survant Trophy for senior golfers 75 years of age and older who have carded the three best gross scores (averaged) were Elmer Pelletier of Fort Kent with an 81, while Richard Maynard of Presque Isle was runner-up with a score of 86.
