Football set for Friday night
    Friday Night Lights will hit Houlton Community Park on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. Admission is free. There will be a concession stand, as well. Bring a lawn chair and get ready for some high school football. After School Program registration
    The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department will be offering an After School Program from 3-4:30 p.m. starting Oct. 9.
    Children in grades K-4 are welcome to participate. The program is held each Tuesday and/or Thursday, depending upon which day(s) a parent selects. Space is limited to 15 children per day.
    Cost for the eight-week program for one day a week is $25 for Houlton residents and $38 for non-Houlton residents, while a two-day cost is $50 for Houlton residents and $75 for non-Houlton residents.

Bike Safety Course training     The Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) in cooperation with the Maine Department of Transportation, is offering a one day course to train teachers, police, medical professionals, health educators, and community members how to the most effectively teach bike safety.  
    The course qualifies for 1 CEU and will be taught by several of Maine’s leading Bicycle Safety Educators.  The all day workshop covers: child development and bicycling, helmet fitting and use, rules of the road, bicycle safety checks and more.
     The course is free and lunch will be provided. This is hands–on and on-bike program. You must bring a bicycle in good working condition and helmet that fits you. This class will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Houlton Recreation Department from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To register, call the Houlton Recreation Department at 532-1310 or Deborah Ladner  (BCM) at 623-4511.
Houlton Adult Hockey League to form
 An Adult Co-ed Hockey League is being formed in Houlton at the Millar Civic Center. The league would be open to all abilities and skill levels for anyone over 18 years of age. If anyone is interested in this opportunity, please e-mail sam.wright@yahoo.com or call 532-6680.
Archery Hunter Safety home study offered
    An Archery Hunter Education Home Study course is being offered through the Military Street Baptist Church Christian Sportsmen’s Fellowship group.
    Classes will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, ct. 13.
