Recent guests of Sheila Smith at her Woodland Heights apartment have been her daughter, Jayme and husband, Micah Titus. While here they visited with her grandmother, Marie Webb, and other family members and friends and did some hiking and kayaking in the area. Jayme was also a volunteer landscaper on the show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” that was recently filmed in Milbridge. She and her husband have since returned to Ellsworth.     Riva Hawkes and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Webb were recent visitors in Presque Isle and while there they also traveled to Caribou for a visit with Mary Lou Pomeroy, who is a former resident of Island Falls. On their return home, they did a bit of shopping in Houlton.
Clayton and Priscilla Varney have returned to their home here in Island Falls after spending the summer months at their cottage on Upper Mattawamkeag Lake.
This nice warm weather has been really great for working outside and I have gotten a lot done in my flower gardens, plus gathering leaves with the leaf gatherer attached to my lawn mower.
I still have lots of birds coming to the feeders, among them a lone nuthatch who loves the peanut butter mixture I put on the cedar branches.
I saw the big gray squirrel loping across my lawn and coming to the feeders. He still does his acrobatic act trying to get at the bird seed. The deer family is arriving late afternoon, but I don’t always take anything out for them as they seem to be thriving on the apple drops and what they are eating from my lawn. Pesky skunks are still digging holes everywhere and when I find them, I fill them in.
