Budget Season: Not glamorous, but necessary

It’s Budget Season once again! The City Council has begun the process of deliberating on next year’s budget. This process will be a focus of our discussions for the next couple of months and citizen input into the process is certainly appreciated as we set priorities for the upcoming year. The Council will continue to  look for efficiencies wherever possible while at the same time ensuring that the quality of service, that our residents have come to expect, continues to be provided.
The Council and city staff have made it a priority to keep our residents informed of our activities and reading this column each week will do just that. Last week’s articles, for example, focused on our library and downtown revitalization effort.
Getting back to the budget, the Council realizes that our meetings, broadcast live on Channel 16, may not be the most exciting at times but we encourage you to tune in or attend a council meeting. It will be time well worth spent.
