DYER BROOK — Another school year has begun and that means SACS Drama Club is preparing for another performance. “You Can’t Be Too Careful” is a comedy written by Carolyn Lane and published by Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Denver, Colo.
Four, dignified, elderly women are playing their weekly game of bridge when two awkward bank robbers, desperately in search of a hideout, wangle their way into the home of the hostess. The so-called professional criminals take the women hostage. Being regular watchers of the soap opera, “World of Shadows,” the feisty bridge club knows more about criminal life than the intruders do themselves. Despite the constant interruptions by uninvited guests, the “hostages” manage to devise a plan to alert the police while advising the so-called robbers to change their ways. Will the hostages play bridge again? Will “World of Shadows” come to the rescue? Will the robbers be reformed? Come and watch the performance to find out!
The cast of characters for the play includes: members of the Bridge Club, Edna (Anna Armour), Madge (Katie Small), Alice (Mariah Lane), and Harriet (Kim Grant); criminals, Charlie (William Adams) and Jonesie (Kaleb Burpee); and visitors, Francine (Kristen Tarr), Meter Reader (Keegan Qualey), Louie/Police Officer (Trent Cullinan).
All are welcome to join the cast for an evening of laughs at SACS on Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10. The play starts at 7 p.m. both nights. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for Pre K to grade 12. Refreshments are included in ticket price.
