HOULTON — Two artists will demonstrate their craft to the public during “Artist at Work” hours in Visions Art Shop, 66 Main Street, in downtown Houlton. Visitors are invited to stop in to meet the artists, see them at work, and talk with them about what they do.
Janet Campbell, of My Cup of Tea, will demonstrate the art of making plaited raffia hats on Wednesday Nov. 28 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Janet’s plaited hats are exquisite handmade creations, romantic reminders of sunny summer days, and make delightful gifts for gardeners.
Paul Porter will demonstrate the art of woodturning on Wednesday Dec. 5 and Thursday Dec. 6 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Paul’s skill and creativity in choosing and shaping results in gorgeous vases, bowls and ornaments accentuating the beauty of the grain unique to each wood—birch, maple, ash, as well as more exotic varieties. Paul’s wood-turned pieces are always popular gift items.
