John and Gail Kennett have returned home to Scarborough after spending several days with Gail’s father, Sam Sewall. While here, they helped Sam tidy up his garden and also did a bit of leaf raking, visited around and watched the deer wander around the area.

The Island Falls voters recently approved an interest-free bond for the Island Falls Water Co. in order to clear the arsenic from the drinking water. Residents will be notified when this is done and the arsenic is removed.
On Oct. 21, the fall meeting of the Aroostook Association of the United Church of Christ was held with the Washburn Memorial Church in Sherman as host church led by Pastor John Deal. Delegates from the Whittier Congregational Church were Candy McKellar, Riva Hawkes and Bertha Pray.
Pastor Michael Kasevich was also present. Pastor Andrew McLeod of East Millinocket was moderator.
Following the business meeting, a short service was held and this was followed by dinner served by the ladies of Washburn Memorial Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Webb and Annie Jane Smith were in Danforth recently where they visited with the Webbs’ niece and husband, Carole (Webb) and John Gallway, as they will be leaving soon to spend the winter in North Carolina.
On their return from Danforth, the Webbs and Annie Jane shopped a bit in Houlton and finished the day with supper at the Brookside restaurant.
The Webbs also have had a nice surprise recently as their nephew, Randy Bryant, from Newburgh stopped in to say hello while visiting the area.
I had somewhat of a surprise the other day when I looked out my back window and saw a large bird sitting quietly. On further inspection, it turned out to be a large partridge. I never happened to see one so close to home before.
I haven’t seen any more skunk holes and I’m hoping that they have all departed south for the winter. I understand they like tulip bulbs so when I planted mine, I put a weighted shingle over them so they couldn’t be dug up by any hungry skunks.
I have been having the deer family coming around about every night. Before long, they will disappear during the hunting season. I keep my fingers crossed that they will avoid any hunter.
