JMG ceremonies held at Hodgdon

    HODGDON — Fifty Hodgdon High School students were part of last week’s initiation and installation ceremony for SAD 70’s Jobs for Maine Grads program.

LEADERS — Newly-elected officers of Hodgdon’s JMG program and others gathered for a snapshot after last week’s ceremony.     The Oct. 22 ceremony opened with a welcome and introductions by JMG instructor Kara Wright and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Krystal Estabrook, Social Awareness Coordinator for the Hodgdon group.
    Rep. Richard Cleary, guest speaker for the evening, was introduced by Nicole Dupont and Dayna Tidd. Cleary, a 1983 graduate of Hodgdon High School, talked some about the Maine economy and also shared the five characteristics of a good leader: desire, vision, integrity, organization and work ethic.
    He closed by commending the students on being part of the JMG program.
    “JMG is a very successful program and it’s successful because of teachers like Mrs. Wright and because of students like you,” he added.
    Craig Larrabee, president of the JMG in Maine, also commended the Hodgdon students.
    “I’m proud to say that kids here in Hodgdon are leading the state in community service,” he said. “We’re very proud of the partnership we have here in Hodgdon. It’s one of the most successful programs in the state.”

CONGRATULATIONS — Hodgdon High School JMG member Marianne Roby accepts congratulations from Craig Larrabee, president of JMG in Maine, and Jane Golden, Maine’s JMG human resources manager.

    Following the special speakers, Brianna Hanington, Samantha Lycette, Emmaly Jurson and Krystal Estabrook shared career association goals: leadership development, career preparation, community service and social awareness.
    Members and officers were then presented with certificates and the ceremony closed with a recitation of the association creed.

GUEST SPEAKER — Richard Cleary, Maine representative, local lawyer and 1986 graduate of Hodgdon High School, was one of the special speakers at the Oct. 22 JMG initiation and installation ceremony. He spoke with students about the characteristics of good leaders.
