Gloria Wilcox

    WASHBURN – Gloria (Webber) Wilcox, 86, wife of the late Alden Wilcox, went home to be with her Lord, on October 23, 2007 in Westbrook. She was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Olie and Gladys (Harper) Webber. Image Gloria was a LPN at A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital in Presque Isle for 17 years and enjoyed giving extra loving care to her patients. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed antiquing with her husband, Alden, playing the guitar, singing and yodeling and spending quiet times at Squa Pan Lake. In her younger years she worked very hard doing seasonal work, picking potatoes, cutting seed, and loved picking fiddleheads. Gloria was a wonderful and prolific artist and painted hundreds of works over her lifetime, with many awards and Best of Show’s. She was a longtime member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church and had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior.
    She is survived by three sons and their wives; Larry and Diane of Limington, Robert and Karen of Lisbon Falls, Alden Jr. “Denny” and Sue of New Hartford, Ct., a daughter-in-law Claudia Wilcox of Grand Junction, CO.; two sisters, Norma Hitchcock of Washburn, and Patrizia Moccia of Ct., fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her best friend and loving husband, Alden; a son Woodford; brothers, Olie Webber, Gary and James Corapi; sisters, Lila Martin, Betty Jones, and Frankie Orr.
    Visiting time and funeral service was held at the Washburn Pentecostal Church on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Relatives and friends visited from 11:00 – 12:00 with the service held at 12:00. Burial immediately followed the service at the Crouseville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washburn District High School, 1359 Main St. Washburn, Me. 04786. The donation will be used for a one time scholarship to a Washburn graduate pursing a degree in art.
