    Mapleton – Rena Turner 93, died Saturday evening October 20, 2007 at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born August 14, 1914 in Mapleton the daughter of Millard and Abbie (Archer) Ireland. She worked as a nurse’s aid at a local hospital. She was a member of the Mapleton Baptist Church and was an avid crossword puzzler. Rena and her late husband Elwin “Sam” enjoyed spending time at their camp at Squa Pan Lake.
    She is survived by a brother Dana Ireland and his wife Winnie of Mapleton, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing her were, two brothers Roy and Leland Ireland; and five sisters Virginia Bagley, Nettie Wilcox, Laura St. Peter, Leola Carpenter, and Eva Jackson.
    Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating. Friends called at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment was in the Southside Cemetery in Mapleton. Condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com
