Grades three and four
basketball preview

The Presque Isle Recreation Department will be kicking off its grades three and four basketball league this Thursday, starting with two practices for each team. The girls and boys will be getting a special treat courtesy of the University of Maine at Presque Isle basketball teams. Coach Tracy Guerrette will be bringing the women’s team down to do a mini-clinic with all the girls in the program on Thursday, Nov. 8.         Coach Mike Carlos will follow, bringing the men’s team down on Friday, Nov. 9, and he’ll mix and match his players with the players in the league while running through some drills.
This will be the first time the teams have come down for this group, but the response from a similar program last year with the fifth and sixth grades was very positive.
The league takes their team names from the college games. In the girls league, the team names are: Black Bears (Maine), Irish (Notre Dame), and Terriers (Boston University). The boys take the names of Arizona, Duke, Michigan, North Carolina and Syracuse. Stop by and check out some of the action as the future Wildcat stars get their start.
