Roope receives scholarship
    CASTINE — Janelle Roope of Presque Isle recently received a Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association Scholarship.
    The academic honor is awarded to those students who best exemplify academic achievement and involvement at Maine Maritime Academy.     The $1,000 scholarship was handed out at the 2007 Homecoming Game.
    Roope, a graduate of Presque Isle High School, is a member of the Class of 2008. She is majoring in Marine Biology.
Enters Class of 2011
at Colgate University
    HAMILTON, N.Y. – Leah B. Alexander, of Easton, daughter of Martha M. Pelletier and Dr. Bruce D. Alexander, is among the 746 students who entered Colgate University with the Class of 2011 in late August.
    The class is the most diverse to enroll at Colgate and is the result of the largest applicant pool in the university's history.
    Alexander is a graduate of Easton Junior/Senior High School.
