Ellis, Nathan, 49, November 19, 2007. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton. Interment to be held in the Jewell Cemetery. BARRINGTON, N.H., and MONTICELLO – Nathan L. Ellis, 49, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at Hyder Family Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Houlton, to Earl and Geraldine (Harvey) Ellis.
Nathan graduated from Gardner High School and enlisted into the U.S. Army, serving until 1983. He worked most of his life in construction, enjoyed outdoor activities and NASCAR. He also enjoyed going to Star Speedway to watch the races. He was a member of the Granite State Chapter of A.T.C.A.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ruth O'Donnell Ellis of Barrington, N.H.; a son, Robert J. Ellis and his fiancé, Pam Lawrence; a grandson, Ethan Emerson, all of Nottingham, N.H.; three brothers, Edwin Ellis and his wife, Norma, David Ellis and his wife, Kim, all of Monticello and Steve Ellis and his wife, Margaret, of Mars Hill; two sisters, Debra Miller of Houlton and Susan Tapley and her husband, Brent, of Monticello; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Gary Friars of Dover, N.H. He was predeceased by both his parents; and a son, Richard Emerson.
Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, at Purdy Memorial Chapel, Lee, N.H., and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Monticello Community Wesleyan Church, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be at Jewell Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
