On Nov. 14, the Katahdin Club met at the new, Belvedere Road home of Dorothy Williams for a noon potluck lunch with 11 members attending. Table grace was given by President Laura Bomba.
Following the luncheon, a short business meeting was held with reports from the secretary and treasurer given and approved.
A silent auction was then held and this was followed by a program of music presented by Laura Bomba, who sang the old-time music with her karaoke. This was enjoyed by all.
The club wishes to give thanks to all who participated in the Christmas wrap fund-raiser. It is with our fund-raising that the club is able to donate to worthy causes.
The next Katahdin Club meeting will be the Christmas one held on Dec. 12.

Dave Parady has now completed his treatments and is feeling very good. He and wife Janette would like to send a special “thank you” to all their family, friends and friends from other churches for all the cards, gifts and, most of all, prayers as he went through his therapy. He has now returned to work and is looking forward to the holidays.

I had a very pleasant surprise the other day when I happened to look out my kitchen window and spied a female Cardinal beneath one of  my feeders. And the next day, the beautiful red male was there, too. I sure hope they stay with me all winter.
The little, lone red squirrel is back, busy gobbling what the big gray one leaves behind. I have put out a lot of peanut butter-lard mixture, and it disappears like magic. Those birds like it so much, and so do those squirrels.
During the rainy day recently, my three deer appeared in the morning and stayed in the back yard all day long, lying down for a nap when they got tired of grazing. So far, they have been lucky and have escaped the hunter’s gun. I still give them a treat in the late afternoon and have to keep my supply of apples and bread on the ready.
