Slick roads conditions caused a series of accidents around the region last week.
Last Thursday, ice coated roads in southern Aroostook. Multiple accidents were reported on Interstate 95 and at least one happened on Route 1 Thursday night.
Trooper Tim Saucier of the Maine State Police said he had covered at least a half-dozen accidents during his Nov. 29 work shift, including several on the interstate, one on Route 11 and another on the Golden Road in Sherman.
“We covered quite a few,” said Saucier. “But I don’t think any of them involved any serious injury.”
Trooper Dennis Quint, who also worked that day, said he witnessed at least four accidents in a two-hour time span. He said more than one vehicle was totaled in Nov. 29 accidents, including one vehicle that rolled over. Amazingly enough, Quint said no one involved in these accident sustained major injury.
“People were really lucky,” he said. “Most of the accidents were caused by people who were just driving too fast for the conditions.”
