Roger Webb, Jarice Gould and daughter, Bethany, were Thanksgiving guests of Ronald and Margaret Webb at their home on the Pond Road. The Webb’s have since returned to their Bangor home.
Next door neighbor, Sam Sewall, has returned home from Scarborough after spending Thanksgiving there plus a prolonged visit. He was accompanied home by daughter, Cheryl Conelly, who had arrived from Missouri for Thanksgiving. Cheryl spent a week here in Island Falls before returning home to Missourri,
I had a phone call recently from friend Marion Burton, who resides in Rancho Cordova, Calif. and spends hher summers at her cottage on Matttawamkeag Lake. She still misses her home town and looks forward to returning in the spring.
I am real happy to announce that the cardinals are still with me. After the big storm, I happened to glance out one morning and there was the female busily eating in one of the feeders. I haven’t seen the male yet, but I imagine he is around when I am not on watch. The woodpeckers are really getting into the peanut-butter and lard mix I put on the cedar tree limbs. They don’t leave much for the little chickadees so I am kept busy mixing the stuff and getting it out there for all to enjoy.
I saw the little red squirrel in the big feeder this morning. He was really busy eating. With all this snow, food must be hard to find. And the deer are already making tracks out back so I have gone out with some goodies for them as Owen, who does my plowing, made me a pathway out, almost to the birch tree. So, no walking knee-deep in snow to feed my menagerie. I have yet to see any deer, but they have left their footprints in front of the house and in back.
