Northern Maine Chamber Society Orchestra will start its 23rd season on Jan. 26 and Jan 27 with concerts in Presque Isle and Houlton.
The orchestra is in its third year with conductor Waldo Caballero who teaches in Orono and plays with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Members of the group come from as far away as St. Agatha and Fosterville, New Brunswick. Most are professional teachers and advanced students from the county.
This is an all-volunteer group doing its best to bring high quality classical music to the area.
The upcoming programs will feature the work of Beethoven, Verdi, Leroy Anderson and Tchaikovsky. The public is cordially invited to attend free of charge, however, donations will be gratefully accepted.
The Presque Isle concert will take place in the UMPI Student Center on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Houlton concert will be presented at the First Congregational Church on High Street on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Houlton residents should take note of the earlier starting time.
