    The Southern Aroostook Warriors were outscored 30-6 in the third quarter of Saturday night’s game against host Easton, taking a 69-43 loss.
    The game was close through the first half, with Southern Aroostook leading 29-27 at halftime. Then, Easton’s Brad Trask went to work, scoring 18 third-quarter points, including four 3-pointers to break the game wide open.
    Colby Clark led SACS with 15 points, while Dakota Sleeper netted 14 more.
    The Warriors hosted Ashland last Tuesday, falling 88-71.
    Sleeper paced the Warrior offense with a game-high 31 points, while Clark netted 13.
    The Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors split last week’s games, with a 59-40 loss Monday to visiting Central Aroostook and a 55-53 win over Hodgdon.
    On Monday, the Lady Panthers’ Sarah Long fired in 22 points, while Amber Bradley added 18 more for the winners.
    For Southern Aroostook, Liz Goodall scored a game-high 28 points.
    The visiting Lady Warriors edged Hodgdon, 55-53 in last Tuesday night Class D action.
    “Again, we started out slow, but recovered and kept the game close and even had the lead in the fourth, but could not hang on,” said Hodgdon coach Olin Quint.
    The Lady Warriors opened the game with a 16-6 lead, but Hodgdon evened the score at halftime, 26-all.
    “We outscored them in the second, 20-10, behind Chelsea Sloat’s 10 points and Shannon Martin’s six,” said Quint.
    In the third, the teams played even again, 40-all, before SACS took the advantage in the final period, 15-13 to win.
    “ I thought the girls did a great job to come back after a slow start to play even with the Warriors,” said Quint. “We just need to play smarter basketball at the end of the games. That is something that we will be working on in our upcoming practices.”
    SACS senior Brittany Charette scored seven of her 12 in the fourth quarter, while twins Evangeline and Elizabeth “Liz” Goodall dropped in 15 and 10 points, respectively.
    For Hodgdon, Melissa Quint and Shannon Martin each scored 13 points, while Chelsea Sloat netted 12 more.
    The East Grand squads split a pair of games on the week, as Thursday they fell to host Shead after defeating Highview Academy last Tuesday.
    In the girl’s game, the Lady Vikes fell prey to the Tigers, 77-14.
    Kelsey Daoust scored seven points for East Grand.
    On the boy’s side, Shead overpowered the Vikings, 65-36.
    Tyler Morse netted 13 points and Kaleb Dicker added 11 more for East Grand.
    In last Tuesday’s games, the Lady Vikings defeated Highview, 35-22, behind Courtney Lloyd’s 16 points and Daoust’s nine.
    Leading 18-11 at intermission, the Lady Vikings extended their lead to 26-15 over three periods en route to the win.
    On the boy’s side, East Grand raced away from Highview, 59-37.
    Morse knocked down 25 points, while Dicker tossed in 14 and Tyler Langill added 11 more for the winners.
    The Katahdin basketball teams played the same opponents, Lee Academy and Fort Fairfield, both taking losses to Lee, but overcoming Fort Fairfield.
    The Cougars fell behind (11-1) Lee, 22-4 to start Monday’s game and could never recover.
    Ethan Qualey tossed in 16 points, while Tom Anderson added 13 for the Cougars.
    Last Thursday, the Cougars overtook Fort Fairfield, 56-49, in Stacyville.
    Anderson led the way for Katahdin with 15 points, while Lucas Craig finished with 12. Evan McCarthy and Josh Guiggey scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
    On Monday, the Lady Cougars also lost to a very talented Lee Academy squad, 74-48.
    Kayla Stevens hit for 16 points, while Olivia McNally connected for 14 more for Katahdin.
    The night before, the Lady Cougars picked up a 58-48 win over visiting Fort Fairfield.    McNally led Katahdin with 16 points, while Melissa Duffy tossed in 13 and Stevens finished with 12 more.
    The Lady Cougars opened the game with an 18-10 lead, but held a narrow 30-28 advantage at intermission. The game got tighter in the third with only a point separating the teams, as the Lady Cougars outscored Fort Fairfield, 16-7 in the last quarter to pick up the win.
    The Hodgdon Hawks edged Washburn, 47-46 last Wednesday in Washburn.
    Hodgdon’s Chris Williams drained a 3-pointer with 50 seconds left to lift the Hawks to a 47-45 lead en route to the win.
    Williams, along with Dan McGillicuddy finished with 11 points apiece, while Travis Quint scored nine and Robert Crane added eight for the winners.
    Connor Fitzpatrick, son of Louie and Cherri Fitzpatrick, scored 12 points for the Beavers.
    Washburn led through the first-half of action, 28-20 and held a slim 38-35 third quarter lead before the Hawks rallied for the win.
