Winter carnival planned – Patten

    PATTEN — Patten’s Winter Carnival will be held March 8 from noon to 9 p.m. at the Patten playground area, Hangar Pizza and the Patten Rec Department. Events will be rescheduled to March 15 in the event of a storm. All are invited to bring the family or a friend and enjoy the winter fun!
    Schedule for the day is as follows.
    Chili judging (at the food shack-prizes awarded) at noon.
    Food drive. Serve your neighbors: bring in non-perishable food and personal items to donate to the Agape food pantry. Donations can be left at the food shack.
    From noon to 4 p.m.
      Food shack opens with free chili, hot dogs, baked potatoes, hot drinks.
      Cross country ski trail at the ball field.
      Sledding down "Little Katahdin" hill. Bring your own sleds.
      Ice skating rink opens.
      Bonfire
      Snow sculpture creations in the park area.
      Horse-drawn sleigh rides  at Hangar Pizza.
    Family fun challenges in the afternoon include:
      Hockey puck shoot  at the ice rink at 2 p.m.
      Snowball throw in the ball field at 2 p.m.
      Sled pull in the ball field ) at 2:30 p.m. Bring your own sleds.
    Snowmobile judging at 3 p.m. Categories include: People's Choice, New (6 years and under) and Classic (20+ years old).
    Spaghetti dinner at the Patten Rec. Department from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Donations at the door to benefit Patten Rec. Department.
    Live music by RFD Gang and friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
