Image     PATTEN – Betty, D. Quint, 75, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home in the early morning hours of March 5, 2008. She was born December 14, 1932, the daughter of Pearl and Gertrude (Stairs) Desmond.
    She was born and raised in Island Falls and graduated from Island Falls High School. She was baptized and became a member of Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church in 2006. Betty enjoyed reading, traveling to Florida, and summers at Shin Pond. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.
    She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Frederick of Patten; daughter, Carol Matthews of Westbrook; son, Calvin "Chip" Webb and his wife, Betsy of Hampden; son, Craig Webb and his wife MeMe of Cumberland; daughter, Sheila Giles and her husband, Stephen of Patten;  son, Eric Quint and his wife, Jaede of Sherman; grandchildren, Chris and Aron Matthews, Cameron and Gordon Webb, Carrie and Cassey Webb, Katelyn and Caleb Giles, Cassidy Quint; great-granddaughter, Majah Matthews; brothers, Dale Desmond and his wife, Winnie, Donald Desmond and his wife, Brenda, Kenneth Desmond and his wife, Pat; sisters, Katherine Merrill and her husband Bob, Sharon Porter; sister-in-laws, Pauline Foster, Mabel Desmond and Jackie Desmond; and many special nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Stephen Webb;  and brothers, Lloyd "Sike" Desmond, Jerry Desmond, Terry Desmond.
    Family and friends called 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, where a memorial service was held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tae Sung Kang officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Betty's name to Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, c/o Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
    The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Patten Ambulance Service for their care and compassion the last several years.
