Caribou’s first municipal town meeting agenda included contestants for four municipal offices, a new swimming pool, fluoridation of the water supply and an airport expansion.
“Wake Up and Read” is the theme of the public library’s events.
Caribou High School’s FFA held its annual father and son banquet with 400 in attendance.
Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Anderson that their son, Paul, who was stationed in Okinawa, had been promoted from airman third class to second class.
Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Collins received felicitations on the birth of their third child, Linda Ann.
Bearce-Carter Oil Co. celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The Caribou boys’ and girls’ basketball teams each won the Eastern Maine Championship. The boys defeated Cony High School and the girls defeated Gardner High School for the titles.
Members of the City Council were divided over a local ambulance contract issue.
The Caribou city budget was up $59,000.
The local Girls Scouts observed Girl Scout Week by attending areas churches, doing crafts and going to a dance.
The Stockholm Elementary School held its carnival with Abby Dufour as queen and Daryl Raymond as king.
Seven Caribou High School juniors were selected as Dirigo Girls State delegates.
Caribou Mayor Roy Doak signed a proclamation for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Day.
