Parties
Postmistress Polly Lockhart has retired from the Easton Post Office after 23 years there. For 20 of those years she was a PTS – in part-time service. On Friday, Feb. 29, coffee and cake were served to those coming into the post office. A surprise retirement party, set up by Easton mail carrier Kevin Marquis, was held at the Bonanza Restaurant with other members connected to the postal service in attendance. Sharon Crane of Fort Fairfield will be the OIC (officer in charge) until a new postmaster or -mistress is picked.
A Welcome to the Family dinner was held at Slope’s for Kylee Carter, who has finally gotten her final adoption papers. Kylee is now truly a Carter. Her grandparents, Vaughn and Cheryl Carter, happily held the special dinner for her with several members of the Carter family in attendance. Those there of course were her mother and father, Sheri and Travis Carter, brother, Kody, grandparents, Cheryl and Vaughn, great grandparents, Eldora and Clair Carter. Some members could not be there because of work. A happy time was had by all.
Visits
Dottie and Duncan Beaton made a quick trip to Watervile on Thursday, Feb. 28, so that Duncan could attend the Maine Town and City Managers Association (ATCMA) meeting held the next day. Because of the fear of bad weather, they left for home on that afternoon following the meeting.
Travis and Sheri Carter and children, Kylee and Kody, spent a recent weekend in Bangor where the children visited a museum and they all attended the Mars Hill-Woodland basketball game.
Hospitalized
Elvira McAdam was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center by ambulance several days ago after suffering a sit-down fall in her apartment the day before. It was found that she had broken a vertebrae in her lower back. As of last Thursday, she was still hospitalized.
Word from Olive Bolster, of Portland, is that her daughter, Beth O’Connell, also of Portland, has been hospitalized with back surgery but should be home by the time of the reading of this item. Olive is doing well and enjoying the activities at her senior citizens complex.

THE EASTON Happy Days Senior Citizens Club honored one of their members, Edith Fuller, on her birthday, at their regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 28. Edith was born on a Leap Year so she has celebrated only 20 birthdays. She was also honored by her church, the Easton Pentecostal Church, on Sunday evening.
