90th birthday celebration
Family members surprised Eva Levesque with a special luncheon at Café Sorpreso for her 90th birthday. The restaurant was closed to the public for this special tribute to a very special lady, and chef and server were co-owners Roger and Jan Lucas.
The menu included beef tenderloin, roast salmon in a citrus sauce, veggies, salads, a lemon crumb crème brule tart and a rich chocolate torte. Everyone agreed that the food was elegant and extremely delicious, and the family all signed a thank-you card and gave the Lucas family a special monetary gift for their efforts.
Those attending included siblings and spouses: Glenna White, Carroll and Pauline Conley, Gerald and Rowena Conley, Earlene Finch, Kay Undergust, nephew Butch Levesque, and nieces and spouse Brenda and Mike McCoy and Mavis Rose.
Eva has four children who live away and were unable to attend, but Lee, Debra, Lori and Jay all sent greetings and made phone calls to mom on her special birthday.
There was a mural-style photo display of family and friends, both old and new, depicting Eva’s life from 1918 through to 2008. The family shared memories and jokes including a special humorous “Ode to Eva” written by Eva’s brother, Carroll Conley. Another more serious and heartfelt poem was read by her sister-in-law, Pauline Conley. The family each told of special things they remembered about Eva and their lives, and thanked her for being there for all of them throughout their lives.
There were several cards read during the party including a special one from President Bush and his wife Laura, congratulating Eva on her reaching this milestone in her life. There were also many cards and gifts waiting for her at home.
Eva has lots of friends in Washburn, and we all wish her a very happy birthday and many more to follow.
