Harvey, Wendell A., 85, March 12, 2008.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
    PATTEN – Wendell Albert Harvey, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, surrounded by his family, at his home, after a brief illness. He was born July 17, 1922, in Patten, the son of Boardman Harvey Sr. and Cassie (Tompkins) Harvey.
    Wendell was a devoted and loving husband and father. His most important accomplishment in life was the happiness of his family. He was committed to caring for his wife during her prolonged illness. Wendell spent most of his life in Patten, working in the areas of farming, logging and carpentry. He was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. He enjoyed travel and especially enjoyed his trips to the Grand Canyon and to Alaska. He was also a dedicated member of Patten's Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years and served as Patten's building inspector for several years. Wendell will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
    He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Harvey and Rowena Harvey of Patten; five brothers, Bud of Limestone, Robert and wife, Joyce, Wallace and wife, Jeannette, Waldo and wife, Janet, and Keith and wife, Esther, all of Patten; sisters, Alice Stanford of Harwich, MA, and Pauline and husband, Richard McManus of Patten; brothers-in-law, Dean and his wife, Francis McKenney, Wallace McKenney Jr. and wife, Lorraine Emery, of Patten, Hadley McKenney of Garland and Laurel Boynton of Stacyville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special great-niece and great-nephew, Shelbe and Cole Lane. Wendell was predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Virginia McKenney; his parents; brothers, Boardman Jr., Gordon and Richard; sisters, Joan Harvey and Elizabeth Boynton.
    The family wish to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to his caregivers at Hospice of Aroostook. A special thank you is extended to Dianne Lane for Wendell's wonderful end of life care. Friends called noon-2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls, where funeral services were held 2 p.m. with Steve Richardson officiating.
