To the editor:
Why do people volunteer? They want to give back to their community. They want to share their talents and skills. They want to make a difference in people’s lives. They want to meet a need.
All these reasons are wonderful — giving, sharing, helping, but the one ingredient most of all is the love of people. It comes from the heart — a desire — an understanding that there are lonely, hurting people in their towns. There are community needs that could be met and as a volunteer, you can help.
Time is precious and passes swiftly. How are you using yours?
Consider spending yours to benefit someone. It can give a whole new perspective on how you view volunteering.
